Walking towards Jaffa Gate | Jerusalem, Israel
Jaffa Gate is one of the seven gates to access the Old City of Jerusalem. Both Jaffa Gate and Jaffa Street are named after the Port of Jaffa situated south of Tel Aviv, where the pilgrims disembarked on their trip to the Holy City.
The Ottomans who ruled the city between 1516 till 1917 rebuilt the walls 500 years ago and the Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent inaugurated this gate in 1538.
I recommend to come and enter through this gate to visit the Old City of Jerusalem as this gate serves as the main entry access to the Christian, Armenian, Jewish and Muslim quarters. Also you will find the Tower of David Museum in a short walking distance.
